Ebne Hakim, born Mikiyas Beyene Mengistu, is an Ethiopian singer and songwriter redefining contemporary Afro-pop through his Ethio-fusion style, a sound that merges traditional Ethiopian melodies with R&B, pop, soul, and electronic influences.
Raised in Addis Ababa, he developed an early connection to poetry and storytelling, elements that continue to shape the emotional depth and lyrical nuance of his music. His influences range from Teddy Afro and Ejigayehu Shibabaw to global icons like Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars.
He gained recognition with the release of “Gela” in 2024, followed by singles including “Qal Becha,” “Yeneta,” and “Gud New,” which showcased his versatility. That same year, he released his debut EP Brana in collaboration with Bana Records and Sony Music Entertainment Africa. The project blends Ethiopian musical structures with modern production while exploring themes of identity, love, and personal growth.
